President Lincoln’s Cottage 

Probably the neighborhood’s greatest claim to fame, President Lincoln’s Cottage is a museum and historic site spread over 250 acres. It’s where President Lincoln made many important decisions and developed the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, you can explore exhibits and enjoy fascinating programs. Another highlight includes Lincoln’s Wild Home. This self-guided, app-based landscape tour features nine stops on the grounds of the cottage and the Armed Forces Retirement home. 

Petworth Community Market 

At the Petworth Community Market, you’ll find fresh produce, prepared foods, and more. One of the many vendors includes Open Book Farm. Founded by Andrew and MK in 2011, it strives to offer clean produce that’s as affordable as it is delicious. Depending on the season, the farm’s offerings may include carrots, bell peppers, and seasonal squash varieties. 

Timber Pizza Co.

Timber Pizza Co. began rather uniquely, as nothing more than a pizza oven and a pickup truck. Eventually, founders Andrew Dana and Chris Brady opened their first brick-and-mortar location in 2016. They partnered with Chef Danni Moreira and created their mission to serve the best wood-fired pizzas in town. The eatery is now recognized by the Michelin Guide, so you won’t want to miss this Petworth eatery. Be sure to try the Green Monster. It’s topped with pesto, feta, fresh mozzarella, kale, and zucchini. You can even wash down your meal with a pint of ice-cold beer or a glass of your favorite wine.
