Sneak Into a Speakeasy Bar in Arlington, Virginia

cocktails at a speakeasy

Would you like to enjoy an evening back in time?

Then meet friends at one of these speakeasies near our Clarendon apartments where you’ll find an old-fashioned vibe and imaginative cocktails:

The Alex Cocktail Cellar & Speakeasy

Named for Alexander Graham Bell, The Alex combines Victorian aesthetics with farm-to-class cocktails. Just nine minutes from 2001 Clarendon Blvd, the speakeasy is perfect for date night or a fun time with friends. Wednesday and Sunday evenings welcome the Blue Dot Jazz Troupe. The group performs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and mixes in the blues, funk, and Afro-Cuban. During the show, visitors can sip drinks such as Old Fashioned, Sazerac, and Barrel-Aged Rob Boy.

The Mirror

Called one of the top five speakeasies in DC, The Mirror is found behind a full-length mirror. It’s a twelve-minute drive and offers a fun place to escape the hectic pace of daily life. The bar is located inside the former Speak, which was twice shut down for operating without a liquor license. Drinks include Bobby Burns, Last Word, and Boulevardier.

The Gibson

Found behind an unmarked door, The Gibson is an inconspicuous destination featuring dim lighting and cozy, romantic enclaves. This hidden gem is a nineteen-minute drive away. It’s where locals come to enjoy a quiet, low-key evening or celebrate momentous occasions. Behind the bar, the bartenders mix both classic and one-of-a-kind cocktails from the finest ingredients. Choices include The Falconer, Shrouded Statue, and Not the Red Baron. They pair well with the fried chicken sliders and grilled cheese sandwiches.

These are just a few of the speakeasies that residents of our apartments near Courthouse Metro can enjoy. To call our community home, please contact us. We will offer a personalized tour so you can see firsthand all we have to offer.
