You don’t have to be a pro – or even an intermediate-level player – to enjoy a round of golf. All you need is a positive mindset, some sunscreen, and possibly some golf clubs (and even those aren’t always necessary). Our luxury apartments in Arlington, VA are near a host of golf courses with varying levels of skill challenges. These courses are all open to the public:

Pinecrest Golf Course

This course in Alexandria is open from dawn to sunset, weather permitting. The course is difficult in some locations, so it might not be suitable for absolute beginners, but it’s excellent if you’re in the mood for a challenge.  Pinecrest is also a certified American FootGolf League course. You read that right – FootGolf! No clubs or irons are necessary – just a sturdy pair of shoes.

Jefferson District Park

This park offers two forms of golf: a standard 9-hole course, as well as a mini-golf course. You can make your reservations online for the 9-hole course to avoid a wait in advance of play. If you want some free practice at putting and chipping, you can take advantage of those areas as well, to further develop your skills. The chipping area totals over 10,000 square feet, and the putting area is almost 3,500 square feet.

East Potomac Golf Course

As a large golf course with 2 separate 9-hole areas, East Potomac offers plenty of space in which to stretch your legs. It’s also gorgeous, and it plays home to the nation’s very first cherry blossoms. If you want to become better at your game, East Potomac also offers a golf academy for all levels. The fees to access the game here are reasonable, with even lower rates for “junior golfers.”
