The Arlington Public Library, located not far from our luxury apartments in Arlington, offers a great selection of books. But books aren’t the only draw – they also have classes, clubs, and community resources that you might not know about. Here are a few of the free events happening at the Arlington library this summer:

Learn About Gardening

For gardeners and the garden-curious, the Central branch of the Arlington Library holds weekly Wednesday night garden talks in their Community Garden. On Wednesday, June 22 from 7-8 pm, learn about the insects that can help and harm your garden at Good Bugs! Bad Bugs! Later, you can put your newfound knowledge into practice at an Arlington community garden.

Read & Sip

There are tons of unique book club options at the Arlington Public Library. If you enjoy a good cocktail, you may be partial to the Books on Tap book club. The June selection is “The Lonely City” by Olivia Laing, July is “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett, and August is “The Memory Police” by Yoko Ogawa. Every book on the list is dynamic, contemporary, and is sure to be a page turner.

Meetings are held monthly on Monday nights. The June meeting will be Monday, June 27 from 7-8 pm at Samuel Beckett’s Irish Pub. Registration is required.

Improve Your Improv

If you’ve ever been curious about taking an improv class, this is your chance. On Tuesday, August 9 from 6-8 pm at the Central branch, Washington Improv Theater (WIT) will present their introductory Improv For All workshop. The workshop is free and accessible. No need to be experienced or an actor! It’s just a chance to have fun and use your imagination. Register for the event online.

The library offers more than books – it is one of many community resources offering free events that we are lucky to have in Arlington. If you’d like to learn more about making our Clarendon apartments your home, then contact us today to speak to one of our leasing agents.
