Fall is here! Picking apples provides the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and safely enjoy time outdoors. These pick your own orchards and farms are all located close to our Clarendon apartments. Here’s our roundup of the best places to go apple picking near Arlington, VA.
Crooked Run Orchard
Pick apples, pears, and pumpkins at Crooked Run Orchard, open Thursdays through Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5.pm. The orchard is family-owned with a history dating back more than 250 years. Fill a bucket or two with apples, and then sit back and enjoy the fruit of your efforts with a cup of homemade apple cider or pear cider. Don’t forget your mask or face covering. Crooked Run Orchard is also a proud supporter of Bread for the City, a non-profit organization providing food, clothing, and supplies to low-income residents. You can gather apples on the ground for free and donate them to this great cause.
Great Country Farms
Pick your own apples or navigate your way through the twists and turns of the Great Country Farms‘ corn maze. There is never a dull moment at Great Country Farms. In addition to apple picking, customers can enjoy live music, roast marshmallows, feed goats, or explore the 12-acre play area. Conclude your day by purchasing fresh-pressed cider or taking a bite of a still-warm apple cider donut. For your safety, Great Country Farms is limiting admission for the foreseeable future. Customers are spaced out on the fields and in the corn maze, and reservations are required.
Get the whole experience at Homestead Farm. Seasonal apple and pumpkin picking are just the beginning. The employees at Homestead want you to leave with armfuls of produce, beautiful, freshly cut flowers (right now, fall mums are in season), and homemade favorites, like local honey and preserves. Pick apple varieties perfect for eating or baking. Entrance is staggered for your safety. This establishment also requires face coverings in enclosed areas.
