On a warm, sunny day, there’s nothing better than spending some time on the water. When you’re ready for some kayaking fun, several destinations around Arlington have you covered. Those near our Clarendon apartments include:

Great Falls Park

Stretching 800 acres, Great Falls Park offers plenty of opportunities to learn about history and nature. Locals have been visiting this popular recreation destination for generations. Once a spot for trading, it now welcomes outdoor enthusiasts who come to boat, fish, and more. Kayakers can enjoy paddling down the Potomac River Gorge. Along the way, you’ll experience surf and play waves.

Fletchers Cove

Nestled along the Potomac River, it’s no wonder that Fletchers Cove welcomes everyone from kayakers to birdwatchers. It’s especially perfect for boaters seeking slower waters. The cove is accessible via a one-lane road, and you’ll wind through an 1828 stone tunnel before discovering all of the recreational fun. Over the years, Fletcher’s Cove has welcomed presidents, so you never know who you might see on the water.

Mason Neck State Park

Boasting a forest, wetlands, and ponds, Mason Neck is a fun place for wildlife observation. Be sure to watch for bald eagles as you paddle along in your kayak. The park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. You can bring your own kayak or rent one starting at 9:30 a.m.

Leesylvania State Park

Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Native Americans lived on the grounds of Leesylvania for thousands of years. It was also a stop on Captain John Smith’s 1608 voyage of discovery. Today, Leesylvania offers a range of recreational opportunities, including fishing and kayaking, making it a great spot for a day trip from Arlington.

When you can’t take to the water, stay active with virtual gym classes. You can try boxing and more. When you’re ready to call 2001 Clarendon Blvd home, please contact us. We’d love for you to see our apartments near Courthouse Metro firsthand.
